Why TikTok might become the worlds biggest snitch
A.I Bytes
If you thought brain scans were just a trippy way to decorate your dorm room, think again! Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is a type of MRI that captures vibrant, technicolor images of the brain in action. While fMRI has transformed cognitive neuroscience, it’s not quite a mind-reading machine - yet. Neuroscientists can’t look at a brain scan and say, “Aha! You were thinking about that embarrassing thing you did in fifth grade.”
But don't worry, they're working on it! Scientists are slowly breaking down the barrier between internal experiences and words using brain imaging. This technology could be a game-changer for people who can't communicate verbally, like those who have had a stroke or are living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). So, no more relying on charades to tell your nurse what you want for lunch!
Sure, current brain-computer interfaces require devices to be implanted in your brain, but the dream is to use non-invasive techniques like fMRI to decipher your internal monologue without any need for surgery. Think of it as a high-tech game of "I Spy" - instead of guessing objects in the room, scientists will be able to figure out what's going on in your head. It's like a magic trick, except it's real and might actually be useful!
So, next time you're getting a brain scan, remember: you're not just getting a cool poster for your wall - you're helping to push the boundaries of neuroscience and potentially change lives. Plus, you get to wear a snazzy hospital gown, which is always a good time. Read more…
Are you tired of reading boring, stale news articles and blog posts?
Well, have no fear, AI chatbots are here to save the day!
These cutting-edge bots are being used to generate content for online content farms, all in the hopes of attracting some sweet, sweet ad revenue.
While experts have been warning us about the rise of AI-generated content for years, it's now becoming a reality thanks to user-friendly tools like OpenAI's ChatGPT.
In fact, NewsGuard, a for-profit organization that rates the trustworthiness of news sites, recently identified a whopping 49 sites that are "almost entirely written by artificial intelligence software."
But hey, who needs human writers when you can have an AI chatbot whip up an article in mere seconds?
Sure, they may not understand sarcasm or humor, but they can churn out content at lightning speed. Plus, think of all the money you'll save on writer salaries!
So sit back, relax, and let the AI-generated content flow. Just don't forget to click on those ads, or these chatbots might be out of a job.
Are you ready for some TikTok magic?
Well, hold on to your hat, because the popular social media app is getting even more wizardly.
That's right, TikTok is developing a tool that will let content creators tell their fans whether their videos were made with AI.
And no, we're not talking about artificial intelligence designed to create the perfect dance moves.
In the world of deepfakes and voice swaps, where it's increasingly difficult to tell what's real and what's not, tech companies are scrambling to find ways to separate the real content from the fake.
But TikTok's solution is refreshingly simple: just disclose it!
According to sources at The Information, the tool could work like a sponsorship disclosure. Creators could simply add an unobtrusive, humorous disclaimer that lets viewers know whether AI played a role in making their content. And who knows, maybe it'll even be a new TikTok trend.
While it's still unclear whether TikTok will require creators to use the disclosure tool for AI-generated content, one thing is for sure: it's going to be a lot harder to trick people with deepfakes and AI-generated content now. Unless, of course, you forget to add the disclosure...
